JOB TITLE:                Shoreside Fleet Mechanic

LOCATION:                Cleveland, Ohio

Job Summary:

The Shore­side Mechan­ic per­forms major and spe­cial­ized mechan­i­cal over­haul and repair work on diesel and marine engines, and relat­ed marine equip­ment and sys­tems using schemat­ic charts and tech­ni­cal man­u­als.  Must per­form the essen­tial job duties with or with­out rea­son­able accom­mo­da­tion and with­out pos­ing a direct threat to safe­ty or health of employ­ee or others.

Essential Job Duties:

• High school diplo­ma or equivalent
• Installs and rebuilds pumps, com­pres­sors, clutch­es, and gear boxes
• Tests marine engines and equip­ment to deter­mine need for repairs or adjustments
• Repairs and main­tains hydraulic equip­ment and valves
• Oper­ates hand and pow­er tools asso­ci­at­ed with marine engine and equip­ment repair
• Installs and aligns shaft­ing, pumps, engines, rud­ders and steer­ing gears
• Removal and instal­la­tion of pro­pellers, bear­ings and shafting
• Installs and repairs minor elec­tri­cal systems.
• Pre­serves and coats the exte­ri­or and inte­ri­or of the vessel.
• Trav­els to out­lay­ing ports as need­ed (esti­mat­ed 25% travel)
• Oth­er main­te­nance duties as directed

Min­i­mum Work Envi­ron­ment Requirements:

• Wear Per­son­al Pro­tec­tive Equip­ment (PPE) appro­pri­ate to cur­rent or dai­ly job duties
• Be fit for a respirator
• Car­ry up to 50 pounds
• Repet­i­tive climb­ing stairs and ladders
• Repet­i­tive bend­ing, twist­ing, kneel­ing and reaching
• Expo­sure to loud noise daily
• Access con­fined spaces
• Work out­doors year round

Additional Requirements:

Obtain Mer­chant Mariner Cre­den­tial with­in the first 180 days of employment.
