Towing Company Begins Work on 13th Tug as Part of Its Major Fleet Overhaul Program

The Great Lakes Tow­ing Com­pa­ny begins work on Tug NEW JERSEY as part of its ongo­ing fleet over­haul pro­gram. Dry­dock­ing and rou­tine main­te­nance for NEW JERSEY includes:

  • Typ­i­cal US Coast Guard Inspections
  • Dry­dock­ing and Rou­tine Main­te­nance and Repairs
  • Clean­ing and Painting
  • Remove Rud­der, Prop & Shaft for Maintenance
  • Ser­vice Sea Valves
  • Replace Shaft Bearing
  • Con­vert Gen­er­a­tor from Air to Elec­tric (Bat­tery) Start
  • Install New Depth Sounder Transducer
  • Oth­er Var­i­ous Clean­ing, Inspec­tions, and Repairs

The 34,000 bol­lard pull tug is the 13th tug to be over­hauled and inspect­ed as part of the Company’s ini­tia­tive thus far. Oth­er tugs includ­ed in the major fleet over­haul pro­gram to date include:
