Every year the Inter­na­tion­al Mar­itime Orga­ni­za­tion (IMO) cel­e­brates World Mar­itime Day. This year, World Mar­itime Day is on Fri­day, Sep­tem­ber 26th. The day is used to focus atten­tion on the impor­tance of ship­ping safe­ty, mar­itime secu­ri­ty, and the marine envi­ron­ment, as well as an oppor­tu­ni­ty to empha­size a par­tic­u­lar aspect of IMO’s work. For 2014, IMO is focus­ing on Effec­tive Imple­men­ta­tion.
